Terms of Service

YI EcoWarriors is a free educational game. By signing in, you agree to a few basic rules: be kind, do not break things, and do not pretend to be someone else.

You can use the app if you are 8 or older. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian has to say yes before you sign up.

We made the lessons and the artwork. Please do not copy them and use them somewhere else without asking us first. The answers you type into the quizzes still belong to you; we just need permission to show them back to you inside the app.

If you ever want to stop using the app, email [PLACEHOLDER: support email]and we will close your account.

YI EcoWarriors is designed for children and teenagers. To use the app:

• You must be at least 8 years old.
• If you are under 18, a parent or legal guardian must consent to your use of the app, in line with Section 9 of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. We collect that consent at sign-up.
• If you are signing up on behalf of a child (for example, a teacher signing up their class), you confirm that you have the necessary permission to do so under the consent framework above.
• The app is provided primarily for users in India. We do not actively offer the service in jurisdictions that would require us to comply with additional regimes (such as the EU’s GDPR or the US COPPA) at this time.

• You are responsible for keeping your password safe. Do not share it with anyone, including classmates, friends, or people who claim to be from the YI EcoWarriors team. We will never ask for your password by email or phone.
• Provide accurate information at sign-up. Lying about your age (in either direction) defeats the safeguards we have for children.
• Do not impersonate another person, real or fictional. Do not create an account using someone else’s email address without their permission.
• You are responsible for activity that happens under your account. If you suspect someone has accessed your account without permission, email [PLACEHOLDER: support email]immediately and we will help you reset access.
• We may need to retire abandoned accounts after [PLACEHOLDER: inactivity window, e.g. 24 months] of inactivity. We will notify the registered email before doing so.

While using YI EcoWarriors, please do not:

• Send abusive, harassing, threatening, hateful, or sexually explicit content to other users or to our team. Be especially kind in any feature that touches the leaderboard, profile, or shared content (current or future).
• Spam, flood, or otherwise abuse the app’s features to inflate your scores, XP, badges, or rank.
• Attempt to access another user’s account, profile, or data without permission.
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract our source code, models, or training data.
• Run automated tools, scrapers, or bots against the app, or the underlying APIs, without our written permission. (If you are a researcher and want to study our learning data, email [PLACEHOLDER: support email]and we will likely say yes.)
• Probe the app for security vulnerabilities without our written permission. We will publish a coordinated disclosure policy at [PLACEHOLDER: responsible-disclosure URL or email] once it is ready; until then, please write to us before testing.
• Use the app to commit any act that violates Indian law, including the IT Act 2000, the IT (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules 2021, or any other applicable statute.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach this section.

“YI EcoWarriors”, the EcoWarriors logo, the mascot characters (Tara, Aarav, Pip, Neel, Zara), and all other brand assets are trademarks of [PLACEHOLDER: legal entity name]. You may not use them in a way that suggests endorsement, partnership, or affiliation without our written permission.

Patents, copyright, and other intellectual property rights in the app’s software, design, and content remain with us or our licensors. No rights are transferred to you except the limited licence to use the app described in §4.1.

We may suspend or terminate your access to the app, or specific features within it, if:

• You breach these Terms (especially the acceptable-use section), or
• We are required to do so to comply with a court order or applicable law, or
• We have reasonable grounds to believe the account is being used to harm other users.

Where the circumstances allow it, we will warn you first and give you a chance to fix the issue.

You may close your account at any time by emailing [PLACEHOLDER: support email]with the subject line “Delete my account”. We will action the request as described in the Privacy Policy.

We may, at our reasonable discretion, discontinue the app entirely. If we do, we will give registered users at least [PLACEHOLDER: discontinuation notice, e.g. 30 days] of notice and an opportunity to download a copy of their data.

YI EcoWarriors is provided for general educational purposes. The lessons are designed to be accurate to the best of our ability, but they are not a substitute for advice from a qualified environmental, scientific, medical, or legal professional. Real-world e-waste handling, especially in volume, can be hazardous and should be carried out by certified e-waste recyclers under applicable Indian e-waste management rules.

The app is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or perfectly accurate at all times. We will, of course, try.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable Indian law:

• We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages arising out of or in connection with your use of the app, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
• Our total aggregate liability to you for all claims relating to the app in any 12-month period is limited to [PLACEHOLDER: liability cap, e.g. INR 1,000 or the amount you paid us in the preceding 12 months, whichever is greater].
• Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot be lawfully excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of India. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms or your use of the app will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts in [PLACEHOLDER: city of jurisdiction, e.g. Mumbai / New Delhi / Bengaluru], India.

Before any formal proceedings, we encourage you to try to resolve a dispute by writing to [PLACEHOLDER: support email]so we can try to fix it directly.

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will:

• Bump the “Last updated” date at the top.
• Notify registered users of material changes by email, with a short summary of what changed.
• For non-material changes (clarifications, typos), we will update the page silently. The “Last updated” date is the authoritative signal that something changed.

If a change is material and you do not agree to it, your option is to stop using the app and request account deletion before the change takes effect.
